I'm Erin. I live next door to Deb's parents in Stamford, CT.  A few years back Mrs. Z came over and asked me why I always had my lights on late into the night... 3am, 4am, etc... I told her "I stamp". She asked if I meant with Rubber Stamps to which I said "Yes". I was surprised that she knew what I was talking about, because I didn't know many people who "stamped". She ran home and came back with some samples of Deb's product and told me all about Rubber Stamp Plantation. I was immediately in love!

My favorites seem to be the Tiare flowers which have made their way onto some of my collages here on the East Coast. I love these stamps!

 Some of our new pet decals. We debuted them at the Hawaii Pet Expo which is always on Mothers Day. This year we were in Terriers in Paradise Booth. We were watching a nonstop parade of pooches.

photographing collage...well, photographing the parts

 It's not that I'm unable to commit to the collage. I see infinite collages. At least, until I'm bored. Then I'm over it and don't even want to memorialize them by gluing them. These are photos of the parts. Lots and lots of photos. These aren't necessarily the best. Just the ones I looked at today.

The first day of class I was vibrating. I over achieved. Instead of one collage, a study of value, I ended up with 5.  Torn newspaper, separated by black and white value, then assembled. I copied them on matte and glossy...3 of each, so I could then embellish without feeling that I would "use them up". Have plenty. now what...this is one using watercolor and gesso...or no gesso.

 Time for the Artful Bra Project. Here are the forms you can download on your computer, then print! Here are a few of some the the really neat entries from 2011. This year we celebrate with 4 live bands at the New Hard Rock Cafe in Waikiki. $5 parking at the Ft Derussy Post office, or $2 for 4 hours at Royal Hawaiian Shopping center with purchase at any store in the complex.
Save the Date!  October 15...Pinktober and the Artful Bra Project Hawaii partner for the 3rd year. Can't wait to see the bras you enter...$5 entry fee. We also encourage you to ask all your friends and family to support your bra with a donation to Kapiolani Breast Center. Lots of prizes for entries this year!

Altered Art Day to Create: Hand made book & Steampunk

Pam Yee was back in town w/DH...and played up a storm! She led a repousse' chunky book using stamps & aluminum to decorate rounded corner 4x4 masonite front & back cover. Several weeks later, she and Debbie West, treated us to an all day workshop at Rubber Stamp Plantation. They were full up this year for the 2 book projects that everyone walked away with.

Pam led a sewn book using a single parent sheet of watercolor paper that she pre colored & split for sharing.

Debbie's project was a steampunk journal that made me drool for my father's work bench!

Waves up at Ho'okipa, Maui

Surf amazing at Ho'okipa, Maui. One of my favorite places to park myself. surfers, kite boarders, windsurfers... used to harvest ogo for my garden when I lived in Haiku. If you're in the area, be sure to have dinner at Max World Bistro. Truly a gem and well worth the adventure finding it!

Driftwood for next project?

Emily & Andy joined us on a driftwood expedition. Needless to say, they had a blast, and we got some great wood for displays. Prepping for Made in Hawaii festival coming up in Aug.

Happy feet! Finally taking a break from craziness...
Was sooo happy to Mom-sit for a friend. Ocean air, sun, surfers in the distance...pure heaven.

Paper Marbling with Shaving Cream

Easiest of methods...We used lots of perfumey/stinky old fashion cheap shaving cream & whatever little ink bottles were lying around that were driving me crazy. Was able to lay quite a few to rest! Always satisfying to finally burn through some of the supplies that keep accumulating. Don't know why they multiply!

Mary and I went to check on her vetiver plants at beach edge in Kualoa. They're thriving in salty, sandy soil. My eye caught the picnic table out back...

Book making with Lilla on Monday eve. 5-8

Lilla will be leading this book making project for stampclub. She suggests you bring an old calendar with pictures that you can use in your book. We will have magazines to cut up and the collage folio to peruse through.

Bras on the way to Hard Rock. We had 2 car loads & a truck with all the display items. Goose bumps/chicken skin...all the lei we had. Thank you Hard Rock for donating them!

cataloging and numbering the Artful Bras...

One evening, Kristen & children, Precilla, Debbie, Darrell, Katie, Mary, David & I unpacked, numbered, labeled, cataloged, & photographed (then repacked) 80 bras. Took us an astounding 3 1/2 hours. Well oiled machine! we learned to keep all the paper work with the corresponding bra until the very end! fun matching names with bras!

The Artful Bra Collection

you can't imagine the utter joy that filled our workshop when the artists began bringing in their bras...along with their daughter's, friends', coworkers', & classmates'. The Allied Health Program at LCC & KCC participated as their community service project this semester. Big Mahalo fo' dat!

Artful Bra Project 2010 :Bras EVERYWHERE!

jenny arrived with 20 bras...we busted out the boxes and counted 40! Bras up to the ceiling, bras under the tables. This was sooo much fun! Treasures came in the mail, were delivered from the North Shore... I'm just sure some came via donkey:)


Bras, Bras everywhere. Bras came in from Texas, New Jersey, Waianae, Kaimuki, Leeward Community College, Kapiolani Community College, Merrill & Associates, Friends, family, strangers...101 of them!!!!! Well....100, Jenny's wasn't quite finished!
